The APE Award
The APE conference is keen to bring actors together across the scholarly publishing ecosystem, and one important reason to come together is to share ideas and understand progress in our sector. To recognise those who help push forward the boundaries in our space, we are proud to introduce the APE Award for Innovation in Scholarly Communication .
Participants
Academic, educational, scientific, technological, medical, legal publishers, university presses, funders, researchers, authors, editors, librarians, teachers, learned and professional societies and associations, funding agencies, politicians and policy makers, subscription agencies and booksellers, recruiting agencies and technology providers.

We are happy to announce that APE2023 will take place in the European School for Management and Technology (ESMT) in the heart of Berlin.
Thanks to the support of our sponsor Morressier, APE 2023 is going to be a hybrid conference: remote participants will have the chance to be part of the discussion through a dedicated chat.

The APE Award
The APE Award for Innovation in Scholarly Communication was born to celebrate the 18th birthday of the APE Conference in 2023, and it is going to accompany the conference for the years to come:
This award, supported by Digital Science, will be given to an individual who has brought innovation in scholarly communication to the community, through infrastructure, technology, business models, output on the topic, theory, or practice. Nominees can be part of organizations, or they can be independent.
If you are a suitable candidate or know someone who could be, please send a 250 words statement and a letter of recommendation to info@berlinstitute.org with the keywords: APE Award.
What can you expect if you are the lucky winner:
- 20 minute “prize talk” slot at the APE conference.
- 1000,- euro prize money (either to be taken personally or the winner may donate this to a charity of their choosing)
- Ticket to APE free of charge
- Hotel bill up to 250,- euro covered, travel costs up to 1.500,- euro covered.
Deadline for this year’s submission is 30 November 2022.
